58 STAT.] MEXICO-FISHERIES MISSION- Apr. 17, May 22, July 22, 27, Oct. 24, 1942 1563 Sept. 7, Oct. 18, 1944 The United States Fish and Wildlife Service had intended, up to a recent date, to assign Mr. Smyth elsewhere but, in view of the assist- ance he will be able to render here in connection with the proposed Mexican farm pond program and other activities in connection with fresh water fisheries in Mexico, the appropriate American authorities desire and agree that his present assignment be continued. The Embassy suggests that the eventual agreement of the Mexican Government to the above suggested amendment and to the extension of the amended agreement for a period of two years be effected by the completion of this exchange of communications between the Embassy and the Ministry, it being understood, of course, that the commitment thus undertaken is subject to the availability of appropriated funds after June 30, 1945 and subsequent fiscal years. The Embassy avails itself of the opportunity to renew to the Min- istry for Foreign Affairs the assurances of its highest consideration. MEXICO, D.F., September 7, 1944. The Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the American Embassy SECRETARIA DE RELACIONES EXTERIORES ESTAD08 UNIDOS MEXICANOS MEXICO La Secretaria de Relaciones Exteriores saluda atentamente a la Embajada de los Estados Unidos de America y tiene el honor de referirse a su atenta nota verbal numero 3041 fechada el 7 de septiem- bre de 1944 en la que se informa que el Departamento de Estado esta anuente a prorrogar las disposiciones del memorandum de Convenio que regula las actividades de la Misi6n de Pesquerias de los Estados Unidos a M6xico, por un plazo de dos afos, o sea, hasta el 23 de octubre de 1946; Convenio que fue efectuado mediante el canje de las notas 138 de 17 de abril y 269 de 22 de mayo de 1942, con sus corres- pondientes memoranda, de la Embajada de los Estados Unidos de America y la nota ndmero 58807 de 24 de octubre de 1942 de la Secretaria de Relaciones Exteriores. En respuesta la Secretaria de Relaciones Exteriores tiene el honor de informar a la Embajada de los Estados Unidos de America que el Gobierno de M6xico tambi6n estA anuente en prorrogar el memoran- dum de Convenio tal como qued6 efectuado mediante el canje de notas arriba citado y acepta la modificaci6n propuesta por el Gobierno de los Estados Unidos con relaci6n al pArrafo 1 del memorandum que se acompafi6 a la nota 138 de 17 de abril, el cual tendra la siguiente redacci6n: "El Servicio de Pesca y Fauna comisionara en M6xico al Sefor Milton J. Lindner, Bi6logo Acuatico de su Divisi6n de Ictiobiologia, quien ya es conocido por las autoridades mexicanas, para ayudar a proyectar y dirigir los estudios propuestos; sus s8rvcis se prestardn sobre una base de tiempo completo, a excepcion de posibles comiiones de duraci6n nominal Anicamente yfuera de Mexico."
