PUBLIC LAWS-CH. 267-JULY 1, 1941 pine blister rust on or endangering Federal lands under the jurisdic- tion of that Department or lands of Indian tribes which are under the jurisdiction of or retained under restrictions of the United States; $685,668 of said amount to the Forest Service for the control of white pine blister rust on or endangering lands under its jurisdiction; and $483,332 of said amount to the Bureau of Entomology and Plant quarantine (including not to exceed $8,650 for the purchase of passen- ger-carrying automobiles) for leadership and general coordination of the entire program, method development, and for operations con- ducted under its direction for such control, including but not confined to cooperation with individual States, local authorities and private agencies in the control of white pine blister rust on or endangering State and privately owned lands. AGRICULTURAL MARKETING SERVICE SALARIES AND EXPENSES For the employment of such persons and means in the city of Wash- ington and elsewhere as may be necessary in conducting investigations, experiments, and demonstrations, either independently or in coopera- tion with public or private agencies, organizations, or individuals, as follows: General administrative expenses: For necessary expenses for gen- eral administrative purposes, including personal services in the Dis- trict of Columbia, $166,108. Crop and livestock estimates: For collecting, compiling, abstract- ing, analyzing, summarizing, interpreting, and publishing data relat- ing to agriculture, including crop and livestock estimates, acreage, yield, grades, staples of cotton, stocks, and value of farm crops and numbers, grades, and value of livestolivestocivestock products on farms, in cooperation with the Extension Service and other Federal, Peanut statistics. State, and local agencies, and for the collection and publication of 49 Stat. 1898; 52a Stat. 348. statistics of peanuts as provided by the Act approved June 24, 1936, Cottonacreage as amended May 12, 1938 (7 U. S . C. 951-957), $749,000: Provided, That no part of the funds herein appropriated shall be available for any expense incident to ascertaining, collating, or publishing a report stating the intention of farmers as to the acreage to be planted in Apple production. cotton: Provided further, That estimates of apple production shall be confined to the commercial crop. Market news service: For collecting, publishing, and distributing, by telegraph, mail, or otherwise, timely information on the market supply and demand, commercial movement, location, disposition, quality, condition, and market prices of livestock, meats, fish, and ani- mal products, dairy and poultry products, fruits and vegetables, pea- nuts and their products, grain, hay, feeds, cottonseed, and seeds, and other agricultural products, independently and in cooperation with other branches of the Government, State agencies, purchasing and consuming organizations, and persons engaged in the production, transportation, marketing, and distribution of farm and food products, New Orleans, La. $1,133,500, of which $5,000 shall be available for the maintenance of a market news service at New Orleans, Louisiana.
