[edit]

This translation of the German-language original reproduces the German constitution ("Grundgesetz") in English. The text was provided by General Electric's Germany & Europe Round Table. You are free to copy and distribute this text, but credit would be appreciated. The hard-copy original was provided by the Press and Information Office of the Federal Republic of Germany (English translation revised by the Federal Ministers of the Interior, Justice and Finance, July 1991). Extracted from the gopher server at the University of Saarbrücken, this copy was reprogrammed for the World-Wide Web by Richard Hacken of Brigham Young University. In the process of reprogramming for WWW, its appearance (particularly with regard to tabs, spaces, columns and indentations) was forced to deviate from the original. The wording has been left unchanged. The article headings have been bolded for easier reference (the short descriptive overviews of article content are not present in the German original). Comments and suggestions may be e-mailed to: Hacken @ byu.edu
