Zora Montgomery Courtney (1882-1962) was born in Peoria, Illinois and attended Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. She married Herme Francis Hahnen (1880-1911) on 26 June 1901 in Galesburg and he died in 1911 of appendicitis. He left an insurance payout of $9,000 in a trust fund for his children. In 1912 Zora married Earl Leroy Krell (1890-1955) and they divorced in 1915. Zora mismanaged the money in the children's trust fund. She married a third time, and died in 1962.
