National Cystic Fibrosis Week. esigna ion.

IJIQ authorize and request the President to designate the week of September 20 through 26, 1981, as "National Cystic Fibrosis Week".

Whereas cystic fibrosis is the number one genetic killer of children in America, and between one thousand five hundred and two thousand five hundred are born each year in this country with the disease; and Whereeis public understanding of cystic fibrosis is essential to enhance early detection and treatment of the disease and reduce the misunderstanding and confusion concerning the symptoms of cystic fibrosis; and Whereas a national awareness of the cystic fibrosis problem will stimulate interest and concern leading to increased research and eventually a cure for cystic fibrosis: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the week of September 20 through 26,^ 1981, is designated as "National Cystic Fibrosis Week", and the President is authorized and requested to issue a proclamation calling upon the people of the United States to observe that week with appropriate ceremonies and activities.
