AN ACT To amend the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, to increase the salaries of certain executives of the Atomic Energy Commission, and for other purposes. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That section 22 a. of the x\tomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, is amended by striking out the figure "$18,000" and inserting in lieu thereof the figure "$22,000; and by striking out the figure "$20,000" and inserting in lieu thereof the figure "$22,500". SEC. 2. Section 24 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, is amended, including appropriate amendment to the table of contents, by striking out the entire section and by substituting the following: "SEC.

GENERAL MANAGER, DEPUTY AND ASSISTANT GENERAL

MANAGERS.—There is hereby established within the Commission— "a. a General Manager, who shall be the chief executive officer of the Commission, and who shall discharge such of the administrative and executive functions of the Commission as the Commission may direct. The General Manager shall be appointed by the (Commission, shall serve at the pleasure of the Commission, shall be removable by the Commission, and shall receive compensation at a rate determined by the Commission, but not in excess of $22,000 per annum. "b. a Deputy General Manager, who shall act in the stead of the General Manager during his absence when so directed by the General Manager, and who shall perform such other administrative and executive functions as the General Manager shall direct. The Deputy General Manager shall be appointed by the General Manager with the approval of the Commission, shall serve at the pleasure of the General Manager, shall be removable by the General Manager, and shall receive compensation at a rate determined by the General Manager, but not in excess of $20,500 per annum. "c. Assistant General Managers, or their equivalents (not to exceed a total of three positions), who shall perform such administrative and executive functions as the General Manager shall direct. They shall be appointed by the General Manager with the approval of the (Commission, shall serve at the pleasure of the General Manager, shall be removable by the General Manager, and shall receive compensation at a rate determined by the General Manager, but not in excess of $20,000 per annum." SEC. 3. Section 25 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 as amended, is amended, including the appropriate amendment to the Table of (.^ontents, by changing the title from "DIVISIONS AND OFFICES" to "DIVISIONS, OFFICES, AND POSITIONS".

Subsection 25 a. thereof is amended by striking therefrom the figure "$16,000" and inserting in lieu thereof the figure "$19,000." Subsection 25 b. thereof is amended by striking therefrom the figure "$16,000" and inserting in lieu thereof the figure "$19,500." Subsection 25 c. thereof is amended by striking therefrom the figure "$16,000" and inserting in lieu thereof the figure "$19,000." Following subsection 25 c. thereof, there is hereby inserted the following new subsection 25 d.: "d. such other executive management positions (not to exceed six in number) as the Commission may determine to be necessary to the discharge of its responsibilities.
