SEC. 2. The fifth paragraph of section 12 of the Act of September 39 Stat. 719 . 1, 1916 (D. C. Code, 1940 edition, sec. 4-509), is amended to read as Funeral expenses. follows: "The Commissioners of the District of Columbia are author- ized to pay from the said policemen and firemen's relief fund, District of Columbia, a sum not exceeding $250 in any one case to defray the funeral expenses of any deceased member of the Police Department or the Fire Department of said District dying while in the service thereof." SEC. 4. Section 5 of the Act entitled "An Act to fix the salaries of officers and members of the Metropolitan Police Force and the Fire Department of the District of Columbia", approved July 1, 1930 DStC. Code § 4 (39 Stat. 839), be, and the same hereby is, amended by striking out 503, -504. therefrom the figures "31/2" and substituting in lieu thereof the figure 4451. Effective date. SEC. 5. R . 24171 To authorize the Secretary of the Air Force to operate and maintain a certain IPublic Law 209] tract of land at Valparaiso, Florida, near Eglin Air Force Base, as a recreational facility. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That, notwithstand- ing any other provision of law, the Secretary of the Air Force, upon acceptance of title to the tract of land comprising the Valparaiso Golf Course of Valparaiso, Florida, near Eglin Air Force Base, for the Government of the United States, is hereby authorized to operate and maintain said tract of land as a recreational facility, in accordance with existing regulations governing the operation and maintenance of recreational facilities by the Government for military personnel.
