Sections 3 and 4 of the Rural Electrification Act of 1936, as amended (7 U. S . C. 901-914), are amended by striking out the words "twenty-five years" in each section and inserting in lieu thereof "thirty-five years". SEC. 504. Subsection (b) of section 3 of the Rural Electrification Act of 1936, as amended (7 U. S . C . 901-914), is amended by striking out the entire subsection, which reads as follows: "There is hereby authorized to be appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1938, and for each of the eight years thereafter, the sum of $40,000,000 for the purposes of this Act as hereinafter provided.", and by inserting in lieu thereof the following: "There are hereby authorized to be appropriated such sums as the Congress may from time to time determine to be necessary for the purposes of this Act as hereinafter provided." SEC. 505. The Rural Electrification Administration is authorized to purchase such financial and credit reports as may be necessary to carry out its authorized work: Provided, That purchases under this authority shall not be made unless provision is made therefor in the applicable appropriation and the cost thereof is not in excess of limitations prescribed therein.
