[No. 10.] Joint Resolution Providing for the acquisition of certain lands in the Mm-uh 8’1900_ State of California. —-——— Whereas what are known as the "Mammoth Tree Grove " and _M¤mm<»¤r¤ Treo "South Park Grove of Big Trees," species of Sequoia gigantea, °E§’§]Z$°§,?gS(;.,mpa¤y_ located in Calaveras County, California, are now held in private C“IL;_€ambl€ ownership; and , ` Whereas the owner thereof now contemplates the sale thereof for the urpose of fellin said trees and their conversion into lumber, whiclh said project is tgreatened of consummation at an early date; and Whereas the trees Sequoia gigantea of these groves constitute the largest collection and probably the finest specimens of the same in the world; and y
