But when the cattle were being divided, my well-greaved companions gave the ram to me alone, as an especial mark of distinction; and sacrificing it on the shore to black-cloudy Jove, the son of Saturn, who rules over all, I burnt its thighs: but he regarded not my sacrifices, but meditated how all my well-benched ships and my beloved companions might perish.
