And to this bourn thou houndest now this man?

Yea, for he chose his mother's blood to shed.


Athena.

Urged by no mandate whose strong dread he feared?


Chorus.

Where is the goad should urge to matricide?


Athena.

Two parties plead, one only have I heard.


Chorus.

But neither will he take nor tender oath.


Athena.

Repute of justice, not just act, thou wishest.


Chorus.

How? Tell me. For no lack of wit is thine.

By oaths win not unjust success, I say. 410
