After my maist hertlic comendations presentlie as alwayes quhen I have to do I mon burdyn ȝou, seing I find sic furtherance at ȝour handes. My pñt sute is this, The Earle Boithuile, cheif murtheare of the King of gude memory, fader to the king my maister, being fugitive fra the lawes, is now deteint in Denmark. And howbeit be a herald I have requirit him to be send in Scotland thare to suffer according to his de(Symbol missingsymbol characters)sving, ȝit find I na apparẽce to get the same ꝯdiscendit unto, onles the Queins Matie ȝor soverane will direct hir effectuus ɫreȝ to the King of Denmark thairfore, in respect of the horrible cryme com̃ittet in the personn of a prince, and that he quha wes murtherit had the honor to be sa neir of hir Mates blude. To the furtherance and expedition quhairof I will maist hertlie pray ȝou extend ȝoure gudewill & crydett, and that hir Matie will require the Ambassadrs of France and Hispainȝe resident thair to procure of thair soverains the like ɫres to be send in Denmark, qĩn as ȝe ȝall do a godlie werk and declare ȝour affection to justice, sa in particular ue mon grant we to ressave a spẽall gude turn at ȝour handes in this amangis mony ma thinges qch God offer the occasion that ue may worthelie acquite ȝour benevolence. Sua, referring to ȝour ꝯtinewall gudewill & wisdome, we com̃it ȝou to Almightie God. At Edinburgh the dayof Marche, 1567.

(6.) Vol. xvi. art. 10.—Feb. 21, 1569. Earl of Murray writes again to Cecill. Forwards letters. Reminds him of her Majesty's letter to be sent to the King of Denmark about the Earl of Bothwell:

After my maist hertlie commendationes. I have na new occasioun p̃ntlie to write to ȝow sen my last ɫre of the xix of this present, quhareof I luke be ȝour good meanys to ressave confortable ans(Symbol missingsymbol characters). I have sent heirwith a ɫre of my awin to my lord the Cardinall of Chastillon, quhilk I pray ȝow hertlie cause be conveyed to him, as alsua that ȝe will pñt thir twa ɫres of my lord & uncle the Erle of Mar and my ladie his wiff to the queins Matie. And last that ȝe wilbe myndfull of hir hienes ɫre to be direct to the King of Denmark for Bothvile, quhilk culd not be readie at my departur be resoun of Mr Ascamis deceise. In all my triffles ȝe see I am bauld and hamlie with ȝow, as I will effectuuslie dealer ȝow to be with me, and gif it stand in my possibilitie in ony respect to shaw ȝow pleas(Symbol missingsymbol characters) assure your self of satisfactioun.
