A. Ethics. Social philosophy. Second semester : Social philosophy. The problem of social philosophy and the principles of sociology, the nature of the social problem and of social science ; the conclusions of anthropology and of the other sciences on which sociology rests ; the theory of sociology by reference to the work of the leading social philosophers. Practical application of sociological principles to the chief social problems. This course attempts to outline that application of science and philosophy to society and social problems which is such a characteristic tendency of today, and also to point out the main lines along which social advance may best be made. Lectures, use of some serviceable manual, readings, reports, practical investi- gations. There will be scope for discussion as in the first semester. Open to students who have completed thirty hours.
