In view of the approaching Centennial of the Society, the Directors deem it appropriate to publish this year an English translation of the annual report, in order to acquaint such of our citizens as are not familiar with the German language, as well as libraries and charitable institutions, with the activity of the German Society during the first hundred years of its existence.
