Charles Edward Drummond Black married Amy Ann Balls in 1870. They had a daughter, Ethel Amy Helaine Drummond Black, born in 1872. Ethel A. Black married in 1894 Frederick Van Sandau and, as Van Sandau's widow, inherited all of C. E. D. Black's estate in 1917 upon his death on 23 January 1917. She died in 1939.
