William Petty-Fitzmaurice
(1737–1805)

Lord Shelburne; Anglo-Irish politician who served as Prime Minister of Great Britain from 1782 to 1783. A reformist Whig who was a personal friend of Jeremy Bentham and a promoter of the Smithian doctrine of free trade, as Prime Minister he concluded the treaties ending the American Revolutionary War.
