Romaine, William, s. William, of Hartlepool, Durham, pleb. Hart Hall, matric. 10 April, 1731, aged 17; B.A. from Christ Church 13 Feb., 1734, B.A. 1737, lecturer St. Botolph's, Bishopsgate, 1748, and of St. Dunstan's-in-the-West 1749-95, Gresham professor of astronomy, rector of St. Anne's, Blackfriars, 1764, until his death 25 July, 1795, author of 'The Life, Walk, and Triumph of Faith.'
