Maddock, (Sir) Thomas Herbert, s. Thomas, of Chester (city), cler. Brasenose Coll., matric. 3 May, 1810, aged 17; entered h.e.i.c.s. 1817, resident at Lucknow 1831, special commissioner for Moorshedabad 1837, secretary to the Indian Government 1838-43, knighted by patent 25 April, 1844, deputy-governor of Bengal and president of the Council of India 1845-9, M.P.
