Macfarren, (Sir) George Alexander; created D.Mus, 19 June, 1879 (s. George Macfarren, of London), professor of Music, and created D.Mus. Cambridge University 1875, M.A. from Trinity Coll. 1878, knighted 22 May, 1883, principal of the Royal Academy of Music 1875, until his death 31 Oct., 1887.
