Clayton, Robert Browne, general in the army (1838), created D.C.L. 18 June, 1817, then styled of Court Hoyle, co. Wexford (2nd son of Robert Browne, of Browne's Hill, co. Carlow), assumed the additional surname of Clayton by royal licence 6 April, 1829, then of Adlington Hall, co. Lancaster, lieut.-colonel 12th dragoons 1799, died 16 March, 1845. Gent.'s Mag.
